More about our vision and social programs
Healthier Populations
We address this area of focus with a multi-tier approach. On one hand we try to bring out more people to joint our activities. We aim at people who would otherwise not come out of their cocoon with the Modern Senior initiative.
We also understand that numbers themselves do not mean much without top notch programs designed especially for the users. So the other hand to get more and better qualified training professional to head our activity programs.
We currently have health professionals and therapists working on exercise sessions designed for older adults and the younger participants.
We like to come up with resource to hire a full time activity manager to manage our drive for a comprehensive approach to this area of focus.
Some of the key strategies we propose as as follows:
Promote Healthy Behaviors Encourage people to adopt healthy behaviors such as eating a healthy diet, getting regular physical activity, and not smoking.
Increase Access to Healthcare Make sure that people have access to quality healthcare services, including preventive care, so that they can maintain good health and get medical treatment when needed.
Improve Living Conditions Address social and environmental factors that can impact health, such as access to clean water and air, safe housing, and supportive communities.
Address Health Inequities Work to reduce health inequities by addressing the root causes of health disparities and providing targeted interventions to underserved populations.
Promote health literacys Educate people about how to maintain good health and how to access healthcare services when needed.
Foster Community Engagement Engage with communities and involve them in decision-making and planning processes related to health. This can help to create a sense of ownership and empowerment, and can lead to more sustainable and effective solutions.
Better Use of Time
Getting people to better use their time is easier said than done. Trying to get a person who sit in front of a one-arm bandit (slot machine in a casino) or a child playing computer game to do something more healthy and meaningful is much harder than one imagine. It takes an ingenious scheme to do the job.
What should I do with my time in retirement? How do I structure my day in retirement? How can I keep my retirement busy? What retirees do all day?
Promoting more productive use of time in Canadian communities can have a variety of benefits, including increasing productivity, improving mental and physical health, and strengthening social connections. Here are some strategies that can help to promote more productive use of time in our communities:
Provide Opportunities for Learning and Personal Growth Offer classes, workshops, and other learning opportunities that can help people to develop new skills and interests. This can help to keep people engaged and motivated, and can also contribute to a sense of and fulfillment.
Foster a Culture of Work-Life Balance Encourage people to prioritize their well-being by taking breaks, engaging in leisure activities, and finding ways to manage stress. This can help to prevent burnout and promote overall well-being.
Promote Social Connections Encourage people to connect with others and engage in activities that build social connections. This can include joining clubs, volunteering, or participating in community events.
Encourage Physical Activity Encourage people to engage in regular physical activity, which can improve mental and physical health and contribute to a sense of accomplishment. This can be done through programs and initiatives that promote physical activity, such as walking clubs or fitness classes.
Encourage the Use of Time-Management Techniques Help people to develop skills and strategies for managing their time more effectively. This may include setting goals, prioritizing tasks, and using tools such as calendars and to-do lists.
Community Vitality
Vibrant communities are the building blocks of our fast-paced, increasingly urbanized world. To thrive, communities need to be more connected, more resilient, healthier and more inspiring.
Our world is undergoing massive urbanization at an unprecedented rate. Between 2000 and 2050, the globe’s urban population will double from 3.6 billion to 7.2 billion, according to the United Nation’s Human Settlement Program.
The interesting key question happens to be: How do we live and thrive in a modern city? The scale of the task to providing social services for a modern community is daunting. We propose to begin with the basic building blocks of a modern cities: communities. We see communities as networks of dynamic, interconnected services and relationships that make cities thrive. As we look to build vibrant communities, we endeavour to make communities more connected, more resilient, healthier and more inspiring.
More Connected The economic and social pull of communities is all about connections. Fostering successful connectivity in the urban environment accounts for many things; such as inner city transportation networks, access to leisure and cultural infrastructure and services. Transportation and communications grids are only one element of a truly connected community; social engagement is critical. Communities that enhance connectivity between people, places and the things they need become more dynamic and vibrant.
More Resilient Social Networks A more resilient community means creating places and life-style that are able to adapt to changes and quickly recover from environmental, social or economic shifts. Resilience acknowledges that communities will face changes – sometimes dramatic change – and prepares them to weather it.
Resilience is a key component of city life. Servicing the communities in a modern city relies heavily on uninterrupted operations of myriad critical facilities and social services. We’ll all learn from one another, and as our services overlap, their convergence results not just in greater efficiency, but also dynamic synergies.
Healthier Communities Public health and communities are inextricably intertwined; the way we serve our communities has a profound relationship with the physical and mental health of the citizens. In addition to providing for all of their everyday basic needs — shelter, food and the space to move around freely — healthy communities should safeguard one’s basic rights from access to education, housing, jobs, the ability to live without fear of violence, freedom from environmental hazards and a free and democratic social environment.
More Inspiring Communities Most of the best livable-cities in the world are inhabited by inspire and connect people. The communities promote healthier lifestyles that make people enjoy spending time together and achieve prosperity. Around the world, people are moving to urban cores, drawn there by a desire to belong and engage with communities of distinctive, authentic character.
Together we promote “people-first” communities. Bringing solutions to urban social services that are connected, resilient, healthy and emotionally rich. By privileging experience and learning from the past, we focus on sustaining relationships that make communities viable in the times to come.
Leisure, Culture & Heritage
We intend to inspire participants through our programs and activities to integrate cultural heritage with music and drama, and to provide opportunities for the development of leadership and talents in arts and culture. We hope to nurture the talents of individuals who may go on to become influential leaders in the arts and cultural community. Our work is rewarding and has a positive impact on the community.
Relationship between Leisure & Culture Leisure and culture are closely intertwined. Culture refers to the shared beliefs, values, customs, behaviors, and artifacts that characterize a group or society. Leisure, on the other hand, refers to the time spent away from work or other obligations, during which an individual engages in activities for enjoyment or relaxation.
One way in which leisure and culture are related is through the cultural activities and events that people participate in during their leisure time. These may include visiting museums and art galleries, attending concerts and performances, participating in sports and recreational activities, or engaging in hobbies and crafts. These activities often reflect and celebrate the culture of the community in which they take place, and they can also help to preserve and transmit cultural traditions and values to future generations.
Another way in which leisure and culture are related is through the role that leisure plays in shaping and reflecting cultural identity. Leisure activities can provide a sense of belonging and connection to a particular group or community, and they can also serve as a way for individuals to express their cultural identity and values. For example, attending a cultural festival or participating in a traditional dance may be a way for an individual to celebrate and express their cultural heritage.
Overall, leisure and culture are closely interconnected and play important roles in shaping and enriching the human experience. Through leisure activities, individuals are able to learn about and appreciate different cultures, as well as express and celebrate their own cultural identity.
Chinese culture in Canadian communities Chinese culture has played a significant role in shaping the fabric of Canadian communities. From coast to coast, Chinese immigrants and their descendants have made significant contributions to the cultural, social, and economic development of Canada.
One way in which Chinese culture has influenced Canadian communities is through the contributions of Chinese immigrants to the country's labor force. Since the late 19th century, Chinese immigrants have played a vital role in building the Canadian Pacific Railway and other infrastructure projects across the country. In addition to their contributions to the labor force, Chinese immigrants and their descendants have also established small businesses, such as laundries, grocery stores, and restaurants, which have become integral parts of many Canadian communities.
Chinese culture is also reflected in the many festivals and events that are celebrated in Canadian communities. The Chinese New Year is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in Canada, with parades and celebrations taking place in cities and towns across the country. Other festivals and events, such as the Chinatown Street Festival and the Chinese Cultural Centre's Dragon Boat Festival, also celebrate Chinese culture and traditions.
As well, Chinese culture has been preserved and celebrated through the establishment of Chinatowns in cities across Canada. These neighborhoods are hubs of Chinese culture, with Chinese language schools, cultural centers, and temples all playing a central role in preserving and promoting Chinese traditions. Chinatowns are also popular tourist destinations, attracting visitors from all over the world who are interested in learning about Chinese culture and history.
In addition to the above, Chinese culture has also had an impact on the arts and entertainment industry in Canada. Chinese musicians, actors, and artists have made significant contributions to the Canadian cultural landscape, and Chinese-language media, such as newspapers, radio stations, and television programs, have helped to preserve and promote Chinese culture within Canadian communities.
Chinese culture is evident in the food that is enjoyed in Canadian communities. Chinese cuisine has become an integral part of Canadian food culture, with dishes such as dim sum, chow mein, and wonton soup being enjoyed by people of all cultural backgrounds. Many Canadians have also adopted the tradition of consuming Chinese tea, which is seen as a symbol of hospitality and is often served during social gatherings.
Overall, Chinese culture has had a significant impact on Canadian communities and continues to be an important part of the country's cultural fabric. From the contributions of Chinese immigrants and their descendants to the labor force and small businesses, to the festivals and events that celebrate Chinese culture, and the Chinatowns that preserve and promote it, Chinese culture has enriched the cultural diversity of Canada and has made the country a more vibrant and dynamic place to live.
Promoting Ethnic Sensitive Social Programs Promoting meaningful social programs that are sensitive to ethnic leisure and culture in Canadian communities can foster a sense of belonging, improve mental and physical health, and strengthen social connections. Here are some strategies for promoting such programs:
1. Consult with community members: Engage with community members to understand their interests, needs, and priorities. This can help to ensure that programs are relevant and meaningful to the community, and can also help to build support and participation.
2. Offer a range of activities: Offer a range of activities that cater to different interests and cultural backgrounds. This may include cultural festivals, sports and recreational activities, or educational programs.
3. Encourage involvement: Encourage people to get involved in planning and organizing social programs. This can help to create a sense of ownership and empowerment, and can also lead to more sustainable and effective programs.
4. Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment: Ensure that programs are welcoming and inclusive, and that they respect and celebrate diversity. This may involve providing accommodations for people with disabilities, or offering programs in different languages.
5. Promote accessibility: Make sure that programs are accessible to all members of the community, regardless of age, ability, or socio-economic status. This may involve providing transportation or offering programs at different times to accommodate different schedules.
By implementing these strategies, it is possible to promote meaningful social programs that are sensitive to ethnic leisure and culture in Canadian communities, which can help to foster a sense of belonging and improve overall well-being.
Environmentally Friendly Community
Through education and programs, we like to help our community to become “greener people”.
- Encouraging people to support a healthy and sustainable environment.
Creating an environmentally friendly community in Canada requires a collective effort that involves individuals, businesses, and governments working together to protect the environment and reduce our impact on it. We propose the following strategies for creating an environmentally friendly community in our neighbourhood:
1. Promote sustainability: Encourage individuals, businesses, and governments to adopt sustainable practices that reduce waste, conserve resources, and minimize environmental impacts. This may include using energy-efficient products, recycling, and using environmentally-friendly transportation.
2. Protect natural areas: Protect natural areas such as forests, wetlands, and waterways, which provide important ecological and recreational benefits. This may involve working with governments and organizations to implement land use policies that preserve these areas.
3. Promote green infrastructure: Encourage the use of green infrastructure, such as green roofs, rain gardens, and permeable pavement, which can help to reduce pollution, manage stormwater runoff, and improve air quality.
4. Encourage environmental education: Educate community members about environmental issues and how they can contribute to a more sustainable community. This may involve working with schools, community organizations, and other groups to provide information and resources.
5. Foster community engagement: Engage with community members and involve them in decision-making and planning processes related to the environment. This can help to create a sense of ownership and empowerment, and can lead to more sustainable and effective solutions.
By implementing these strategies, it is possible to create an environmentally friendly community in Canada that is healthier and more sustainable for all.
Democratic Engagement
We involve people from all walks of life in our projects. Different people in terms of gender, age, ethnicity, religion, physically and mentally challenged worked together in harmony to achieve a common goal, to make our community a better place to live.
Promoting democratic engagement in Canada is important for ensuring that citizens have a voice in the decisions that affect their lives and communities. We propose the following initiatives to promote democratic engagement in our community:
Encourage Voter Participation Encourage people to register to vote and to participate in elections at all levels of government. This may involve working with elections officials to increase voter education and outreach, or supporting initiatives that make it easier for people to vote.
Support Citizen Involvement in Decision-Making Encourage citizens to get involved in decision-making processes at all levels of government. This may involve providing opportunities for public consultation, or encouraging citizens to serve on boards and committees.
Promote Transparency and Accountability Support measures that increase transparency and accountability in government, such as open meetings laws and freedom of information laws. This can help to ensure that citizens have access to information about how their government is functioning and can hold their elected representatives accountable.
Foster Civil Dialogue Encourage civil dialogue and respectful disagreement, which are essential for a healthy democracy. This may involve supporting initiatives that bring people together to discuss issues and find common ground.
Educate About Democracy Educate people about the principles of democracy and how they can participate in the democratic process. This may involve working with schools, community organizations, and other groups to provide information and resources.
Successfully implementing these strategies, it is possible to promote democratic engagement in Canada and ensure that citizens have a meaningful role in shaping the decisions that affect their lives.
Enhancing Living Standards of the Community in General
Our focus here is to increase economic stability in the community. We intend to do this on a two tier scheme. We will introduce programs to help people who are economical vulnerable to get access to community service, job training and opportunities. We also like to put forth training programs to promote economic skills and financial independence.
We like to help people who are economically vulnerable to better able to meet their basic needs. Again, we are utilizing a multi-tier scheme. On one hand by helping them to access to community service and increase economic opportunity; on the other hand providing them with skills and knowledge to achieve greater financial independence.
